When I run into someone of anothjer religion the first thing I do is to ask them what all they know about Christianity. It is amazing how off most people are. Instead of getting into what is wrong with thier religion I talk about what is right with mine. Then you can get into how it compares to theirs. By doing this it allows them to be more open to talk and not put up their guard up. Plus you should know more about your own beliefs than you do theirs. Unless you are a former whatever.
Another advantage of this is it clears up alot of misconception of Christianity. Start with the very basic foundations. The essentials. Try it out.
